counting?

does anyone have any good ideas for how to drum in counting to 20 into a childs head?? Marcus just cannot get his head round it. We’ve done some dot-to-dots today which went down ok, but figured I’d ask if anyone had any good ideas that I haven’t managed to come up with yet.

Oh and anyone know of any good printable dot-to-dot pages? I shall have a scoot round google later if I get chance.

Scotland v England

Yesterday was manic. Did a favour for my brother which involved taking his daughter to dance class getting her changed in between 2 classes and pickin gher up afterwards. Tried to do too much in between and it just didn’t work with the traffic in Falkirk. Dance class looked an absolute nightmare though - haven’t ever had to do classes for my 2 yet and that just looked like my worst nightmare!!!

After picking her up we headed off to watch my brother play Rugby. He plays for Falkirk and as far as I’m aware he scored a try. Lol, I’ve no idea about rugby!!!

Spent the afternoon in the rugby club feeling like death warmed up as I’m full of cold and where the kids spent forever charging about. Kids, James and my brother all had England rugby tops on to watch the game in the evening so they all got a bit of stick when England lost. Alex switched sides half way through and started supporting Scotland!!

Was a nice day out though, and managed to have some nice chats (through the screaming) with D, my SIL. Still feel rotten today though and just want to sleep!

Have a busy week coming up. Managed to wangle some money to go to home ed groups this week so I have 2 of those coming up and that local person coming over on Tuesday too. Really hoping we’ll get on ok as she’s def within walking distance and it would be so nice to have somewhere to go without jumping in the car.

Just found a home ed contact in the next village, might even be walking distance (although maybe not with my 2!!!). Hopefully meeting up next week - hope we get on ok, would be nice to have someone close by.

Settling in

but not feeling like we’re doing very much atm tbh. I’m itching to go to local groups and get involved in stuff but atm I just don’t have the available funds. Cash flow for at least the next 2 weeks is tight. Hopefully after that we’ll be a bit better. Unless of course my OU grant comes in, which it should soon, then I should be able to breath a bit easier!!

Wanted to go swimming as part of an HE meet on Wednesday but just couldn’t do it due to funds. Shall try again in 2 weeks time. There’s a HE group next Friday which I *might* get to and one next Wednesday which I’ll not :( Bah humbug to money!! have a few contacts of people fairly local so tryin gto follow those up too.

Kids are really enjoying the garden and have spent a good part of this afternoon out in it. I think they’ve spent more hours outdoors here this winter than all summer back in Conisbrough!! Was lovely watching them out the window today climbing trees and exploring.

We started some jobs for pocket money this week too which has gone well. Well actually Marcus has whinged through most of it, but nothing much new there eh? He liked getting some money today ;)

Tomorrow we’re off out watching my brother play rugby and think then to the rugby club to watch some more rugby. Hope weather is ok anyway for the morning!

Really feel like I need to get my head round what I want to be achieving HE wise. Otherwise I’ll have everyone on my b ack about sending kids to school I know it. I know I should just tell them to sod off but you know how it is ;) Must sort out the playroom and make it an actual playroom and not a dump!!

We’ve accepted the offer. The couple have been credit checked (whatever that consists of) and it seems like no immediately obvious problems. Looks like we’ll have a SOLD STC sign up soon! Wohoo!!! Just hope everything goes smoothly now, although I just know it won’t.

Now if I could just get my finances up here in some semblance of order I would be laughing. ! step forward and 2 steps back seem to be the way to go so far. *just keep hanging in there*

well…

phoned up this morning to say we’d accept the offer on the house and it seems that one of the couples who viewed it last week are looking again at it this lunchtime. So you never know, we might get more for the house. Hope so! Keep your fingers crossed for us!

secret blog for grumbling about OH’s??? I need it NOW!!!!!!

We’ve had no other interest in the house this weekend and we’re thinking about accepting the offer of £82K. This is the bit I start getting nervous at as the next step will be a survey and goodness knows what that might turn up. Actually, the potential buyers may have changed their minds, who knows? They’ve been on holiday for a week or something and are due back tomorrow. Just want rid tbh, but also want as good a price as we can get. *sigh* Hate this already!!

The reason James is annoying me about it all though is that since we got that mega high valuation of £95K he’s been all dreamy eyed about getting a new car. Now, me? I’d go for a decent diesel that will last us a few years, nowt fancy or too expensive. He wants a 6 grand Skoda VRS thing. Hardly gonna be economical on trips cross country. The whole thing just makes me want to cry. I explain to him how I feel about him and his car obsession and it goes in one ear and out the other. He sits and listens witha Homer Simpson expression on his face and next minute he’s drooling over the Auto Trader website agian. It’s bloody doing my head in. The other thing is, of course, we didn’t actually put the house on at that magical price, but he still thinks he’s gonna get what he wants.

And we don’t particularly want to rush to buy a new house up here and he doesn’t particularly want to wait to buy a new car. So I just know what will happen, he’ll get what he wants - he always does. he’s like a spoilt child. Some fab house will come along and we’ll not be able to get it because it’s just that little bit over our budget cos it’s already been spent on some shitty heap of junk that will already be losing it’s appeal.

:( Am fed up.

Night out

HAd a lovely night out tonight at a restaurant in Stirling. My brother’s business has been going for 5 years so this was to celebrate and I got to meet all the people James works with. Kids had a great night too with their cousin and another little girl.

Today’s been cold, but the kids have spent a good deal of it outside in the garden and around the house. We had a walk out this morning exploring a little bit and then we pottered around the gardens thinking about growing veggies and stuff. Was nice to see signs of spring popping up with flowers and buds. Even got some birds on a feeder I put up the other day which is great since we never had any in our old house. I really do love this house just for the outside bit. So nice for them to be able to ride bikes without me worrying about cars and stuff.

Some big news to report on the HE front, although I did tell some people this at Melrose. Marcus has started reading!! he read almost a whole bit from one of the Sonlight I can Read it books. I’ve been able to tell he;s been ready for a little while now but obviously we’ve been a bit busy to do too much about it. It’s good to watch anyway :)

Other big news was that we’ve had an offer on the house. Not as much as I’d like so we haven’t accepted it yet. 82K, and it was on for 85, but we’ll se what this week brings. We may take this one, not sure yet.

Possibly off to Callendar park tomorrow with my SIL, depends on the weather. But at least the kids shall have some company :)

with getting back to blogging.

feeling like I’ve got loads to say but can’t quite put it into words. Doesn’t help I’m stuck in the kitchen. Really need to set up the wireless connection on the laptop then I can sit in comfort in the living room.

Was lovely to see people at Melrose - hopefully not be too long before I see everyone again :)
