Life is a Highway - it’s the journey, not the destination

a year ago already?

have just seen Jax’s post about the typical HE day in photo’s (I know - I’m behind!!). That cannot have been a year ago - where does that time go? Quite scary really. Has brought it home a bit how little we seem to do these days. It’s not that I don’t think HE is the right way to go as I’m sure it still is, I just don’t think I do it quite as well these days. I wish I could get more enthusiastic about it all. I suppose it will come back, but I do get guilty reading blogs and looking at how little we do.

Been a nice week:

Thursday my friend from up the road came over with some popcorn. The kids ran about playing for ages and we had a nice chat. Really enjoy havign someone up here that’s close by, otherwise I seriously could imagine mine being in school right now (not me but James and the rest of the family would have pressured me into it I reckon). We’ve sorted out tickets for the cinema in Edinburgh for the schools special screenings so that will be good.

On Friday the day started out well after watching Sean Bean on gmtv - bliss! Then we headed over to see Joyce. Was lovely to see her and she didn’t have any shades of green at all!! The kids had a nice time once they all settled down and the weather was lovely so they were out on the climbing frame and trampoline. They must have had a good time as the both were asleep on the way back! hellish journey going through Glasgow - I hate busy roads! But hope to make it a regular feature :) Felt like crap once I got home so had an early night.

On Saturday we went to watch Falkirk Rugby Club play but I was still feeling pretty rough so struggled to stand upright on the pitch. I ended up going back to the car. The kids had a ball running around playign a mix of football and rugby with some other kids. Always amazes me how easily they play with other kids - I was never like that as a kid!

Sunday we ended up with another 5 year old in the house, my niece. She’s lovely but she does stretch my patience as she doesn’t listen to a single word I say especially about safety issues with the trampoline! James got drunk watching the grand prix and so had a late night hangover just in time for Sharpe to be on telly (and just when he promised to sort the kids out in bed - grrr!)

And today has been awful - everything that could go wrong has. I went to the bank this morning and forgot my bank card so had to make 2 trips and managed to scratch the car amongst other stuff. Will be glad when today is over. Well when the kids are in bed at least ;)

Been meaning to catch up…

but have been feeling a little off colour the last few nights and just haven’t got round to it.

Had my Sharpe fix tonight though and have to say it was luverly ;) I do love him when he sounds all Sheffieldy.

Been enjoying the word clouds that I’ve seen on others blogs, so I tried to do mine. Will not post it as some of the larger words sat together were “head” and “good” but not in that order ;) Dunno what’s been going on on my blog anyway ;) Actually amazed it didn’t say Sean Bean *blush*

I’m going to quickly blog

before I get on with the washing up. Procrastination at its very best ;)

Been a busy Easter weekend really. After the excitement of the grandparents visit on the Saturday, we had all the fun of Easter Sunday and the chocolate that contained!! It looked like it was going to be a really nice day and since my niece was coming round to do a little easter egg hunt, my brother decided to invite himself round for a BBQ (is it that time of year already??) James with his love of entertaining thought this was a great idea but tbh it was my idea of hell :( I really hate these kind of things. I can only just manage it when it’s *my* friends. But when it’s family and people I don’t know I would rather be curled up in a corner. I know. Dead unsociable aren’t I? It wasn’t too bad anyway, everyone had a nice time, but I’m still trying to tidy up from it!! James got absolutely pissed and ended up going clubbing and didn’t come home till 4am.

On Monday we vegged for a bit and then later in the afternoon as it looked nice we decided to get out and do something. So we headed to Culross as I knew there was a nice little park there and it was a nice little village. Didn’t realise there was a palace there too. Actually we didn’t go inside, but we did go through the gardens which were really nice. Kids absolutely adored it. I bet if I’d gone there with the specific intention of seeing them they wouldn’t have been so impressed!!

Yesterday James was back at work. Kids have been irritating and watching Scooby Doo countless times. They watched Blue Peter and Marcus has decided he wants to send in pictures there. So he drew a picture of Timmy (the caterpillar!) and we’re going to send that in. I did go out in the garden yesterday with the intentions of doing something there but I just dont’ know where to start and all the gardens are just so full of rubble. And tbh I’m feeling too lazy about it all. Maybe I should just buy a couple of grow bags.

I’m in an awful mood today and have shouted all morning at everyone. Feeling really crappy. I think it’s to do with the house. Just want it sold and we’ve heard nothing more about it. I have no hope whatsoever that it will sell and we can’t do much about it all either. *sigh*

Anyway, best off to do the washing up and tidy up a bit. Need to get a better head on as I’ve a tutorial tonight and my head feels like a shed.

Looky what we got!

Borrowed from my brother who doesn’t have enough space for it. It’s gone down a storm!! We managed to put it up yesterday and the kids have never slept so well!!

Continued to be a hit today, but not as much of a hit as James’s dad surprising them by coming up for a day (I know - but they were already in Newcastle!!). I’ve never before seen my kids look so confused and gobsmacked! They’ve been angels all day long playign football and jumping on the trampoline with the grandparents.

We also found a caterpillar in the garden and have put it in a container. We’ve never managed to find caterpillars before so this was huge excitement!

Will be glad when the chocolate fest of Easter is over and done with as I’m feeling slightly like a whale at the moment. Marcus and Alex do seem to be very interested in the religious side of it though and not just the chocolate so maybe not all is lost ;)

how long?

does it take for me to catch up on blogs? Sheesh! And I never even commented on most. Sorry guys - I am reading though :D

Not done much lately, infact been extremely lazy and nothing to report at all.

Oh except from watching the film of War of the Worlds today. Not sure it was a good idea with 2 under 6’s but, er, I’m sure they’ll be fine!! Actually led to lots of talking about why it wasn’t exactly the same as the cd. See I told you I’d make it educational! Really must look to get the proper cd rather than the mp3 as then kids could listen to it in their own rooms.

Weekend might bring James’s dad up but we’re not sure yet. Hope so. It would be nice to see them all. I like visitors. Anyone wanna come up??

it’s cold!!!

We went out around the garden and barns this morning and it was gorgeous. Marcus wanted to draw “nature” so we took out paper and pencils and he did. Spring is definitely starting but it’s hard to be convinced when it turns as cold as it has been. Was snowing the other night. We do have a lovely tree out in the garden with lots of blossom on it which is really nice. I’m quite enjoying watching everything change.

Marcus also wanted to learn about birds today so we’ve just looked through a book together. Alex has a thing about Scooby Doo and has been watching the films non stop. Oh and when not doing that it’s Pop Jr dancing (I need that rolls eyes icon thing).

I’m annoyed at myself for still having not done any gardening of any sorts. I’ve no excuse (well apart from lack of money!!) as I have plenty of space now. Need to get a gardening head on I think. I do have some rhubarb growing though which is mildly exciting ;) and there’s some sort of tree in the same area and I’m wondering if it could be a fruit tree. You never know. Looking forward to the end of summer as there are oodles of blackberry bushes around :)

Education is thin on the ground, but I’m convincing myself that it’s ok as it’s the Easter break. Oh and Jax, the reading thing has kind of been bubbling under the surface for a while. He’s just finally been able to do it a bit more fluently so I made sure he showed off for my mum ;) We’ve still a long way to go, but it’s not really a struggle for him. He just isn’t hugely interested. That’s the struggle I guess. I don’t want to push him to do something he isn’t interested in, but obviously it’s such a big thing I need to do something. In the end I went for the neglectful approach, I ignore him till he begs to do it!! Muahahahahah!!

my best birthday present was watching Marcus sitting on my mums knee and reading (extremely well!) to her. I think she was impressed ;)

Also, we’ve had another person interested in the house. No offers yet, but fingers crossed.

for all the birthday wishes. I meant to blog earlier about it but just haven’t had time. 27 isn’t feeling too bad, even though I’m that much closer to 30! Turning 26 was much, much worse ;)

We’ve had a really good week here, but I’m feeling really run down too. Trying to do wayyy too much. We’ve had trips out, meals out and days in (unfortunately accompanied by me trying to do my assignment). All good stuff. Mum and dad have gone home now though and al that’s left is tidying up and getting the cats back to normal ;) Don’t think they enjoyed having the dogs around!!!

Back to normal now though. Have to say I’m getting extremely excited about this coming to a telly near you sometime soon. If I get overexcited and start wibbling or summat, just slap me ok??

have another assignment due on Friday and I just can’t get my head round any of what I want to write. Can’t concentrate at all :(

*edit* - since it’s about the Colosseum I think a viewing of The Gladiator might be in order. Then I can justify watching more Sharpe for the French Revoloution section that I’ll be doing next. Oh and then Lady Chatterley for the Sixties part… Feeling better about it all of a sudden ;)

Forgot to write earlier - thanks so much everyone for their kind comments and e-mails, really appreciate it all. *hugs everyone*
