Shall do a proper holiday update soon

we had a lovely time, but I need to sort the photo’s out. For once there are quite a few! Even some of me, which is a novelty!!

Kids are doing football training this week. Today was the first day and it went well. Very hot though. Alex is the only girl in the “mini bairns” bit, which is for 3-5 year olds. She’s enjoying it though so I’m glad I put her name down. She starts gymnastics in a couple of weeks too, which I think will be much more up her street! Marcus is in his element, even with all the bigger boys. there are some his age, but he looks so small compared to some of them!! Hope the rest of the week is as good.

Had a bit of a reality check last week as we had a letter through asking if we were the owners because some new homes developer was wanting to buy the land. I’m pretty sure it would never be sold as its a trust that owns it rather than an individual and the actual house is Grade 2 listed so I’m assuming that means they wouldn’t be able to knock it down and build other houses. Although of course there’s nothing to say they’d just build round the house. bit scary really and brings it home that we may not be here forever.

Anyway, shall worry about it all if it happens. Shall keep a look out for a bit of land to buy to build my own house on!

Photo’s and holiday update soon I promise. Been stood in sun too long today and feel awful, ought to be asleep really!

who do you look like?

I keep getting Nana fucking Maskouri which has pissed me off as James and FIL keep sayign I look like her. Must get rid of these glasses!!! I tried with a few different pics and got Keira Knightly and Miranda Otto - hahahaha!!! But better than Nana!!

You have to register to try it out btw.

(and OMG - tried another of Alex and it said Nana maskouri!!!! Oh no!!!! The legend lives on…)

I daren’t tell James, he’d piss himself laughing!

not getting round to blogging again. We’ve been doing ok round here though. We went to Kinghorn beach at the weekend and had a lovely day there. After 8 years of your nearest beach being Cleethorpes you really appreciate nice coastal towns ;) We did a bit more PYO’ing on the way back too. Making up for all the years we never went!

On Sunday we went to Callendar Park which is in Falkirk and free, so two positives ;) It was way too hot though so we didn’t stay long. The house wasn’t open so we’ll have to go back another time to look in there. Preferably when the schools are back!! Came back via Asda where James insisted on buying a 10ft “paddling” pool. He obviously didn’t put enough hot water in to warm it up for the kids so they weren’t too impressed at first! Monday was better as the sun managed to warm it up for them and they had a pretty decent play.

I found some wild raspberries round the back of one of the barns and so we’ve been picking and eating them. Alex and Marcus are in their element! Just found some more today near the veg patch but can’t quite get to most of them because of the thistles :(

Today we walked into Stenhousemuir to visit my friend. Was really hot so we all had loads of ice lollies and more play in the paddling pools and a nice day in all. Also managed to join the library so we can go there more often now. It’s only taken us 5 months!!

My jaw hurts cos I’m addicted to some chocolate cornflake cakes that James got from Asda and I can’t stop eating them. I really must try harder!!

Hoping to go camping this weekend here which I’m quite looking forward to. Hope the weather holds!

birthday boy

Marcus turned 6 today - eeek! Can’t quite believe how old he is already. I can remember starting home ed and all these other people with 6 year olds and they seemed so old, now I have one!

The DS was a real hit. I don’t think he quite appreciated what it was at first but once we got down to playing with it he was well impressed! He got some money from various relatives and he bought some more games to go with it (very impressed, less crap to tread on!). He got Lego Star Wars and some racing game, Need for Speed or something. Both Gameboy Advance games so slightly cheaper for him. I’d have gone for the Harry Potter GOF game myself (was £9.99 in Argos) but of course he wanted a car one. He’s been playing with them all evening.

Today we invited some friends to play and their cousin. Was nice to see them all although I felt slightly bad that actually they were mostly girls and the only boy was 2. Sometimes he can be fab with littlies but he’s quite often just not very nice with this little boy. He’s big for his age and I think he expects more from him than he’s likely to get iykwim. We really need to concentrate on more boy socialising with him I think. Anyway, it was a nice day, not too rainy so they played outside and inside with Pop Jr blaring!

Shall try to stick some photo’s on later. Had a nostalgic trip through the old blog seeing his last birthdays, can’t believe the first one I blogged was 3 years ago!!

I should blog

it’s been way too long. I’ve spent the past week or so really trying our hardest to sort the house out. Still loads of boxes around and I’m just not on top of anything. Which reminds me, I must clean the kitchen before bed just so I wake up to a nice sight! It’s been getting me a bit down as I’ve felt I’ve not been giving the kids enough attention at all. So I then try to do just that and the house suffers cos it gets so late and I just can’t be bothered.

Kids had a birthday party in the morning of Saturday and we had a barbecue on later on for the England game. I’m sooooo not a bbq person, I hate them! So trying to clean my house in order for people to come round for something I hate wasn’t fun. Put on a brave face though ;) And it wasn’t that bad really. Always seems such a waste of food though, there was so much we cooked that didn’t get eaten and then so much that didn’t even make it to the barbie.

But that didn’t matter as we took it to the safari park the day after as they have a barbecue area there. It was quite nice there, but really pricey I thought. We went with my brother and my niece and nephew so the kids had a fab time. In the evening we all played football at my brothers house but the kids were getting so tired and the girls just couldn’t cope with it all and tears were plentiful!

Can’t seem to remember what we did the beginning of this week though except of course the compulsory house work - grrr! Cleared the playroom finally on Wednesday and it looks like one now!!

Highlight of the week has been the visit of Nic and Ady. Marcus and Alex have been counting down the days! It was a pity they couldn’t stay as long as they’d hoped but we made the most of it by just chilling out in the garden and the weather obliged! The trampoline was a huge hit especially with Ady ;) I’m sure photo’s will follow from them, they took some fab ones especially of the house. The kids were great together and got on really well, the adults did too and James even managed to coax a game of Jenga out of them at the end of the night.

It was sad to see them go this morning, seemed a bit surreal actually in that they were really here. Not sure I believe it! This afternoon we’ve done some grocery shopping and then went for a walk in the countryside. This evening I’ve done some gardening which was well overdue and just in time really as it’s chucking it down here now.
